Now THAT's a How You Use A Jumper Cable!

Now that's how you use a jumper cable!  We remember seeing this commercial a years back and were hoping this was a Cobra Energy Drink Commercial so we can give Cobra  and Philippine Airlines props for supporting the Philippines Dragon Boat Team EVEN BEFORE they won 5 Gold Medals in the 10th IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championships in Tampa Bay, Florida.  They believed in the Filipino Athletes despite the government's failure to do so.

Support
It was interesting to see how politics has entered and interferes with athletics competition.  When because of the corruption in national federations and the international ranks as well, the best are not normally representing their nations.  But this time the 2-time defending champion team defended their title and brought home 5 gold medals and 2 Silver medals bringing honor to their country despite the fact that their government weren't their to support them (until they won of course!).

PNoy with the Cobra Philippine Dragon Boat Paddlers
Of course now that they've won, everybody's jumping on the bandwagon!

Sadly, skill and talent are not enough for marketing people and politicians.  Support always comes too late from politician's; their are only a few who would support up and coming champions but they will always jump on the bandwagon as soon as athletes become champions.

Unfortunately for Filipino athletes if you are not in a basketball team (which is not really a good sport for Filipino's to excel because of the disadvantage in height) or a boxer (thanks to the Honorable Congressman from Saranggani and proven champion Manny Pacquiao) chances are, you will receive no support from the government or the big businesses, even if you are the most talented player in your sport.

Unless of course you have athletes named Phil and James Younghusband or some other showbiz worthy celebrity persona in your team.  It is time for change the Philippines should concentrate on their strengths (boxing, football and dragon boat among others) and forget about the fantasy of beating Western teams (USA, Spain and Germany among them) in basketball!

We doubt this would be heard by our leaders, but its worth a shot right?  So lets get back to the funny stuff! While looking for the Sting commercial, we found out that their are other versions as well.

We like the first one better, the "mechanic" chosen made it more funny and interesting.  What do you think?

That Just Looks So Wrong - Figure Skating

Figure  Skating Amazing
Even we have to admit that this in amazing shot in a sport of grace and precise execution.  But not all athletes are created equal.

Figure Skating Fail
And so sometimes this happens.  What was supposed to be an amazing sight of athletic precision becomes a very dangerous accident.

Figure Skating
We are at a loss for words.  This is an accident waiting to happen!

Figure Skating Pile-driver
Figure Skating Tombstone Pile-driver
That is a move even the undertaker would be envious of! Is this really figure skating or is there a new fusion sport of wrestling and skating?   That has got to hurt!

Figure Skating Wardrobe Malfunction
Sometimes figure skater's also suffer from wardrobe malfunction.

Figure Skating Sliding
Well better a wardrobe malfunction then an error of throwing your partner over the skating rink and cause this...

Figure Skating?
We have to honestly admit we think its from a spoof movie the likes of Blades of Glory, but then again we are not certain so just enjoy it!

Figure Skating Elbow
Before throwing your partner across the rink, you better remember that they can do this as well!  Also remember that some partners are able to execute the pile-driver accurately as well!

For more funny skating moments you might want to check out the Will Ferrell comedy Blades of Glory from Amazon.com

And That's the News!

Remember when we posted this error made by the Miami Herald in our Miami Heat article?

Miami Heat 2011 Champions! (Miami Herald)
That time we actually had a playful argument that maybe the Miami Herald's editor was really pissed at the Heat for losing what was deemed by many a championship that was rightfully theirs.  Then again, the Herald's editor could have been anti-Heat fan and just waited for the right time to rub the salt on the wounded Miami Heat franchise.  Maybe he was from Cleveland and felt a bit slighted by LeBron Jame's move from Cleveland to Miami.  We'll never know.

Since the NBA is on a hiatus... in case you haven't heard, the NBA owners locked-out the NBA players in a labor dispute where Millionaires (players) are fighting against Billionaires (owners) as to who has the right to earn more money from the business... This is a pretty lame argument for us.  We guess greed really takes the better of even people who won't run out of money.

But enough of the NBA rant! We started this post with an old post because we stumbled ourselves across very interesting newspaper clippings.

Now that is editing!
We don't really know if the layout was made intentionally... but we have to say that the probability for this happening "by chance" is simply close to nil!  maybe the layout artist or the Editor was the model for the underwear, no?  Or maybe they just a great sense of humor like us!

Detroit Blows
We're thinking the Editor was either laughing his heart out or died of a heart attack when he read the morning papers!  Damn!  The picture in itself is a great capture, but the Headline just takes to a whole different level!  We think this would have been more humiliating for Detroit than the actual loss to the Minnesota Vikings would have brought!

Dad Gets Head Job!
It's not what you think...  But yeah that's what we thought as well when we first read this clipping!  Common man!   There should be some other way to phrase that! And they showed a pretty picture of what we think is the excited daughter with her mouth wide open to boot!

Rangers Whiff Colon!
That may not have been such a good idea after all right?  The Sports Editor must have whiffed a lot of it as well to keep his job!  What in the world were they thinking?  Could it have been published in April Fool's Day?  Well that's the basics of newspaper editing!

The Batman Equation!

Batman the ultimate detective hero.  Warner Bros. is releasing another movie called The Dark Knight Rises where Anne Hathaway plays Catwoman, and Bane appears to the villain.  It just makes sense that intelligent people following the Batman would try to recreate the Batman insignia with a math equation, right?  No?  Well... they did anyway!

The Batman Equation from 9Gag.com
Supposedly the equation on top, when plotted would result to the image below.  We are not math wizards, so we'll take their word for it!

Apparently, someone who tried to do it himself (Arunn)  and yielded this image...

Arunn's Attempt
Arunn has a link to a Google Spreadsheet and xlsx format.  You might want to give it a look here.

As for us we are still looking for the guy that made this.  If you know the guy let us know.

It turns out that Batman is cool for common folks and geeks alike!

In a Perfect World...

In a perfect world there would be neither calamities nor accidents.  The government would be a  be able to maintain the roads and the rain, no matter the volume/density and frequency would not result in flooding.

In a less than perfect world, there would be minor flooding, the government would always be there to inform the public of such disturbances and the people would have enough common sense to avoid flooded areas.

But this is the REAL WORLD and so these things happen...

And in the real world, people will not accept their mistakes.  They would instead blame the government!  Maybe Christopher Lao was watching this YouTube video before the incident but forgot that he was not driving Bus 62!

Before we go further, we just would like to say that we are not condemning Christopher Lao as a person.  In fact we would like to believe that what happened was the result of an unfortunate series of events resulting from the stress of the floods and law school, lack of knowledge of the roadway and a minor lapse in judgement.

The support he received from his circle of friends, his community and even the UP College of Law has led us to believe that Christopher Lao was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.  To add insult to injury, the GMA News reporter was in the right place at the right time!  However, unfortunately for the reporter, we don't even know his name!

The incident brought Mr. Lao instant fame, though not in the good way.  A Facebook fan page was established and hit more than 40,000 likes in less than 48-hours!

We agree with UP College of Law Dean, Atty. Marvic Leonen that the conclusions made by most people in Facebook and Twitter are going over the top.  If UP is proud of him even after this incident then he must be a good person.

As Dean Leonen says, there must be a distinction made between the person and the incident.  In this light, we would like to ask the UP College of Law if they are proud of how Christopher Lao reacted to the incident?

From Un Worthy

We have to admit making stupid mistakes ourselves.  But we don't blame other people for the mistakes we've made.  If the UP College of Law is proud of how Mr. Lao handled the situation, then something is terribly wrong with them.  Those characteristics shown by Mr. Lao are not the characteristics one would look for in a Lawyer, in fact those are the characteristics that drag the legal profession through the dirt and give lawyers infamy for being corrupt and arrogant people.

In Mr. Lao's defense, in a perfect world the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the people in the area should have made signs informing travelers that the road cannot be traversed.  But Mr. Lao should have known that he was not living in a perfect world, and that the MMDA would not be able to do so.

What really pissed people and made people react to the incident was not because he made the mistake of "floating" down the road but his reaction after the incident.  Why blame others?  Christopher should have just smiled and laughed, said while laughing that "I didn't know the flood was that high.  Now I Know!"

People would have laughed with him, instead of laughing at him.  Then again, everything is easier to decide on hindsight is it not? What about you, what would you have done?
In a Perfect World...

If we were Christopher Lao, we'd use this opportunity to make it big in Philippine showbiz as the ultimate villain!  Seriously though, Mr. Lao should just find a little humility to laugh about the entire incident and he should be fine.  All of these will be forgotten as soon as something else catches the fancy of the people... right?

Funny Animal Pictures!

For some reason we want to post something about funny animals today.  Maybe it just the weather, but these pictures really made our day.  We found most of it from this forum, the rest of it from all over the web.  Hope you enjoy these as much as we did!

The mother should really decide whose side she's on, the dog or her daughters!  Is that even a dog?  That looks like a werewolf on a leash!

Owner: Dinner time!
Cat:  I'm not dinner!

OK we admit we suck at making animal conversation!  But you've got to admit it the picture put a smile to your face right?

What the dog got for eating the cat at dinner...

The future of cockfighting (after activists got what they wanted!).

Now kids don't tease the panda he's a little bit of a hot headed sort...

I told you not to tease the damn panda!!!

Oh that happens to married lions too?

Are they making a live movie of the Lion King now?  Boy Hollywood has really ran out of ideas!

That's why you don't dress up pets!

Now THAT is a trained shark... OK OK so the image is Photoshopped!

Courage or just stupid?  Now where could that penguin be now....

Don;t mess with the monkeys!

That Just Looks So Wrong! Part 2 - Football (Soccer)

Well after the baseball and baseball again (!) we go to football.  No, not American Football (NFL) but soccer.  It is a great game and the athletes must be in top shape to actually compete.  But this pictures would make one "think" again if it worth it!

That should really hurt...

This is embarrassing...

When we say dragged offed the field?  We mean literally drag him off the field!

The guy in blue?  He's wishing he was the guy in yellow wearing number 8 above!

We don;t know what the hell going on in this soccer field!

Ummmm would you rather be the guy in blue or this guy?

Now that's how you tell somebody to kiss your @$$!

Then again, this could happen to you the time you go down the field...
